How much is too much live rock??

    +1 I also think that if you rock is to tightly packed in, you will suffer from the simple fact that water is not carrying the nutrience to the inter rocks thus the bacteria are limited as to their function,
    I have recently started to thin out my rock to increase flow through the rock structure .JMO

    So far I have 145lbs of LR in a 90g tank. And I will end up getting more. I am going to stop at about 160 to 170lbs.

    When you can't fit anymore rock in the tank, the fish can't swim, or when the water volume is drastically reduced due to the amount of rock. Even if fish can't swim you can forgoe fish and pack it with cool corals :)

    I have about 100lbs in my 55gal... i would say that it doesnt look like too much rock. The problem is, I could have gotten the same look with much less rock, and the tank would have been easier to maintain.
