I quit counting at $15k.... Including all equipment, about half of my livestock and labor/install costs. I'm probably pushing 20k including my non reef tanks and additional livestock... It's painfully easy to spend $500 at a time in this hobby.

On the flip side it's much cheaper than my other two hobbies.. Racing and boating.

How do you guys keep track of every individual piece of equipment you've bought? In all nine or so years of being in the freshwater hobby, and two years in saltwater, I've probably spent $4,000.00, but that's just a guess. I have a closet full of supplies, a 5'x8' shed full of equipment, and the three tanks using stuff as well. I've also gotten rid of a lot of stuff recently.

The worst part is the miscellaneous box! You know what I'm talking about! I have a 45 gallon chest thats filled to the brim with power heads, heaters, media, test kits, tubing, bulbs, timers, power cords, adhesives, old additives, nets, plumbing, zip ties, probes, random rolls of tape, SUCTION CUPS, and fish medication thats 4 years old. Not to mention the box that has all my "firsts": My first skimmer, first light fixture, first doser, first fish (just kidding).

    LOL. What recession?
