I am planning to have mixed Reef (Softies, LPS, SPS) tank for 200g. How much flow should I aim for. From what I research, SPS will need 30x to 50x.

    Thanks

2 things, softies and sps are complete opposites one needs perfect water (sps) the other prefers its water a little “dirty”. Also their light and flow requirements are completely opposite.

Question: Why do people have some nice mixed tanks? if they're really completely the opposite. I am curious.

yeah I have 35-40X in my LPS and saftie, and its barely enough for that IMO, get more flow and angle it so you have high to low flow areas to put diff corals in.

they get very lucky that the toxins the softies release dont kill their sps. also then put hours in the rockwork to make it just perfect for them all, imo very hard to do.

My tank only has 35x hmm. Anyways, its not about a specific number. There is much mroe to flow than a number that tells you how many times a tansk water is turned over in an hour. I read a really good article on it awhile ago when researching PH for my setup, Ill have to try to find it.
