While a spray injection system might be a different technology (one that I'm not familiar with), my guess is that it still needs a source of outside, fresh air to "feed" bubbles to the skimmer. If someone has figured out how to get air bubbles into a remotely-fed protein skimmer, I'd be appreciative to know how this is accomplished.

    Check out this link,
    How Does Spray Injection Work?

With Spray injection you don't need any external source of bubbles, the injection system creates them by spraying a jet of water into the skimmer, this action creates millions of tiny bubbles that bubble up into the skimmer.

Currently I have an AquaC Remora Pro skimmer that uses the same technology and all it requires is a water pump of some sort to run it. AquaC just says that the particular skimmer I was looking at the EV-180 would require a gate valve if used with a larger pump to regulate the water going into the skimmer.

Let me see if I understand this Q right.

I placed an air pump outside and ran one 1/4" air line through a drain hole in the "french door" bottom jamb. I drilled a hole at the bottom vertical jamb and another hole on the "inside" of the same jamb, which is covered by the base board. From there, it splits into four different air lines, which one of them feeds my skimmer. Hope this helped you. If you need some pics, let me know. Luna

Thank you for that! I guess you learn something every day. So then with a large pump, some closed loop plumbing, and imagination--you really COULD run an entire system. That's really good news.

    Good stuff! :)

OK. So you're running an air line from a pump into the venturi port of your skimmer?
