Agreed on the size change. Using the return pump for flow is a huge waste of energy and generates a lot of heat in the process also. It seems as though there will be more usage than to just return water so a larger pump is in order than would be normally suggested.

The recommended flow rate through the sump is 10X the sump's volume. Flow through the fuge is recommended closer to 1 time the fuge's volume per hour.

2in10 I know these are the recommended flow rates but I am going to be attempting some nnew ideas with this set up wich will allow for higher flow rates and better filtering, through both more flow keeping particles suspended aswell as my ideas wich will hopefully extract the particulates much better. Worst case I can dial back the pump some

Sounds like you have a good plan, good luck, I hope it works as you envision. Maybe you will start a method of filtration.

Hopefully ...ill post it up if it works out. Its a simple concept but I like to be outside of the box so its worth a shot.just need to figure out a pump that is quieter then a mag24 and similar stats to a mag 36

That's why I switched from a Mag 24 to a Dart-more flow, about half of the power consumption, and very quiet. Very happy now.

I agree on the darts. great little pumps. I ran 2" from my sump to my tank. then it splits into dual 1" to go thru each side of the overflows.
