I am setting up a 24x24x24 60G true cube rimless tank. I want to use AI Sol Blues or another brand with equal quality. The tank will be SPS dominated with lower light LPS on the bottom. How many uits should I buy? According to AI's site, one should be sufficient.

I would think that one unit would be fine. I have one over my 27 gallon cube, which is 20x18x20....similar dimensions. I have mine mounted about 12 inches above the water line and have light spilling over the edges so i think 1 unit should do it for you.

if your not sold on the Ai Sols, then you should consider the Radions by Ecotech, they're foot print is the 24x24, plus youll have full RGB functionality

Also, i know its a jump in price, but i read too many threads of ai owners having issues with their spectrum and certain SPS colors/types.

Love my AI's, but 1 is not enough for SPS on that tank. My wife has the same, and I recommend 2.

I know it's more money, but for your tank dimensions, 1 Radion is perfect.

    Just food for thought.

You're on the borderline for just 1 Sol getting the job done.

I think you should be fine with one. Worst case, you could start with one and add another at a later date. I have 2 over my 120. they are about 16 inches over the tank, and I have more than enough coverage. I am running them at about 55-60% intensity at the brightest point of the day, and my corals are doing awesome. I have mostly softies, but also some SPS and LPS. I cant say enough good things about these lights, I am really happy with them, my only regret is not getting them sooner!

I have 3 over a 57g at 9 inches from the surface and if my wife wasn't ready to kill me, I'd add a fourth. I may be a light addict!

On a more serious note, until I added a third, I had some low light issues on some SPS. That may be the result of the closer placement resulting in dead spots I didn't account for early on.

I really like the radions, but the price of the AI Sol Blues are what have me eyeing them over the radions. I was originally going to set up a 40B with 2 AI sol blues, but then wound up finding a great deal on a tank and stand for a 60 cube. I went with that because I assumed it would cost me less to light (according to AI's site). Plus I always wanted a rimless cube. Until I buy the LEDs I will be using my current 36" t5ho fixture. I can always wait an extra month and buy the radion, but I do like that the AI sol blues can be run off my apex.
