Hi, can anyone tell me how long r/o water will keep before going off?
I have filled a bucket today and i have a lid on the bucket so it is covered.
would it keep for a few days??
I was planning on mixing my salt in tomorrow and letting it oxygenate for 24 hrs.
Any advice would be great!!

youre qll good with that setup col. mix the salt and keep it moving as much as possible to totally dissolve the salt. even if it means stirring it every now and then. but 24 hrs is easily doable.

I store my RO/DI water in a covered rubermaid trash can long term....4 years later...so, far we're still good....

Its kept in a food safe bucket with a secure lid. its actually a bucket for beer making, so plastic wont leach any toxens.
you think it would keep up to a week or over??

it will keep for a very very long time if in a food grade container (like roughneck trash cans)

water lasts forever. It's just a matter of keeping it air tight in a safe container so germs don't crawl in and nothing leaches in from the container.

Just sitting out with no lid? Throw a towel over it so dust doesn't fall in and I'd say you could still use it a week later...

even if a bit of dust gets in- likely wont hurt it unless your using some type of aerosols around the open water.
When I do water changes, I make up my RODI water and leave it in a giant 30 gallon rubbermaid container in my main entrance, and then usually dont get to mixing up the salt until a day or two later. All this time, with no lid, however I do have the powerhead mixing the water constantly which does keep it well oxygenated.

I have it sitting in my kitchen with a lid on and a powerhead moving the water around.

There is nothing in RODI water that benefits from circulation, it's pretty much just H20. You don't even need the powerhead until after the salt gets mixed in then you want to keep it circulating.

right. I have two 60 gallon containers. One is always at least half full of RO water. The other I fill with RO and then mix salt when I am doing water changes. The RO water can be there for weeks at a time before I run a new batch. I go through a gallon a day of RO for top off. The saltwater as well gets mixed and sometimes sits there with a powerhead for a couple weeks, while I do small water changes. They are both covered well and I have not seen any ill effects
