Its instant ocean and its may like 6months old and it did clump up alittle, but I broke it up and mixed it up
It looks like some of the salt has settle on the bottom of the tank that just wont dissovle should i just remove the sand some how or drain the whole tank and clean or just get more sand and cover it up

Was the water clear in the buckets after you mixed it? It should have been. Do you heat the water before mixing?

I guess im just going to drain the tank and redo it with new salt. It was cloudy in the bucket. I figured once in tank with circulation and being heated it would clear up which it is clearing im more concerend of the white specs on my black subtrate that looks like salt that is not staying in solution
Right about now I fell like a real idiot

Hey, no need to feel like an idiot. There's a learning curve to everything. I use IO Reef Crystals and I premix mine in a 45g trash can. Granted I have to do 25-30g water changes but sometimes I do notice that there is some undissolved salt in the bottom of the container. I mix and mix sometimes over a period of a day to get it all dissolved, and sometimes it doesn't. I think you should mix up enough in a bucket and let it dissolve with a powerheads and a heater and syphon all the undissolved salt off the substrate. I don't see a real need to completely start over. You are only in the cycling phase. Just remember to go slow and not rush anything. First things first. Get the undissolved salt off the substrate and top off to the proper sg. If you are still having issues in a couple days then I'm sure someone else will chime in with some better advise.
Remember, it's a learning process and we all made mistakes. It's all in how we learn from them to make us better reefers.

    Good luck.

Ok well i have been turkey basting it and it seems to be dissovling slowly. I guess I have some time befor I can fish so I guess I cna get it all dissolved in, must be the temp and the circulation. If after a week it isnt all in solution ill drain restart and buy new salt that wasnt clumped up. Im sure it will work out.

just an update. i turkey basted the salt that had settled for about 10 minutes and then left it alone for a for hours and poof clear water all the salt is gone. but ik when i do my WC i will have to set a 5 gallon bucket with a power head (probably a cheap ebay one) and a heater and do it a day or 2 ahead of my WC.
