Hi drove around all day for battery back up air pumps I managed to get 3 hurricane 2 pumps. My 1st question is how long do these last and second how many gallons can I keep on life support with them? Thanks guys

I am investing in a power inverter from home depot for about $30-60 bucks depending on the power you need. And then a marine battery used for trolling motors on boats, they don't require an engine to recharge and last a long time especially if you have a motorcycle battery charger kit once the power turns on. This should be able to power even big tanks i.m.o., lights powerheads filters included

I hope this advice helps, personally I wouldn't rely on just battery powered air pumps, I've used them and they suck... batteries die too fast the stock airstones are cheap.

To be honest, I don't even own one; I just use a turkey baster to circulate the water every half hour or so.

That said, there are variables to both of your questions. For a cube, one should be enough. In a rectangle, I'd suggest maybe 1 for every 24" in length.

The brand may determine the energy efficiency of the pump. If in doubt, buy 2 or 3 extra sets of batteries- they'll store indefinitely in the freezer in the event you don't use them right away. :)

Im really just concerned with tomorrow.they are for my gfs tanks I have a generator that runs my house and tanks.but she's got a tight grasp on her wallet so she wanted a more affordable solution so this was it.we usually don't loose power here and when we do its for short periods so im not very worried.her issue is they don't turn on automatically when the power goes out so she needs to leave them on when she goes to work.I managed to snatch up afew dozen batteries for them but if no one is there to change them they wont do any good.

It depends on the brand. As long as you have the type that runs on batteries and not a built in rechargeable battery, you can always swap out the batteries. Usually, 5-10+ hours battery life is a safe assumption. So, just pick up a big pack of batteries and you should be good for days.

mine is the cheap 9.99 one from the local fish store. i also have a led flashlight i use. my fish seem to get really stressed and want to jump when they don't have any light. if she doesn't have a cover you may want to get a led flashlight. the energizer led sport flashlight will run for 16 hours on one set of batteries. i have a cover but use the flashlight because stress can make fish sick.i just lay the flashlight by the tank facing it.

just bought a generator and wouldn't you know its defective! lol im in pa near nj. :( guessing i will be with out power too...again!
