How long do coral live without light????

I have a full stocked 70 gallon reef with a ton of corals and fish. I recently went to Destin , Florida for vacation and is still there and going home on saturday. I had the timer set up and my neighboor came over today said that the sump has overflowed and the light has not came on. He said that he would flip the lights on for 10 hours a day on the timer till i get home. Do you think the corals have died because the light has not been on for 6 days or do you think they are fine?????

 

6 days should be ok. there will be a recovery process for sure, as the corals were hurting.. I wouldnt worry to much.

You should be fine so long as nothing else got outta wack. I have shut the lights off for 10 days before with no ill effects.

fine, I have had softies live 2-3 weeks with out light.

 

dang!!!! I thought my corals were going to die.....
