I answered this on a different thread as well, you should be good for months especially with the cover. Keep it mixing so it doesn't fall out of solution and use RODI water, you will be fine. Household chemicals are the biggest worry but that is what the cover is for! +1 on the maxi-jet, I have had one for 20 years and it still works like a champ!

    Thanks!
I got the new MaxiJet 1200 that coverts into a 1300 GPH powerhead and it's amazing!

So you say months and other says a week. Whats the right answer!?

I say months from personal experience. Just plug in the pump and heater in a few hours before the wc to get the temp up and water mixed up well.

I keep salt water around for weeks with just a circ pump to keep it moving. I don't know why, if circulated, salt water would have a "shelf life" to it.

I would think that evaporation would throw off the sg of the water too. I've never stored salt water for more than a week but i keep it in those 5 gallon jugs with the lid on tight. But after a week I do see the salt crystalizing at the bottom of the bottle so I do need to pour it into a bucket and run a powerhead.

Well before I put the water into my tank I would check the params. It's hooked directly up to a RO/DI unit so adding evap water is a breeze.
