So I have my 125gal up and running with vinegar water. But the water is only going down the left overflow.
I shimmed the stand and got it pretty dang level.

I am using a maxijet1800 atm because my new return pump has not come in yet so maybe this is the issue?

But the water only goes down the one overflow, and very slowly down the other. And makes a lot of gurgaling noise.

Does it have to be perfectly level or what?

Will having a more evenly matched pump solve the issue?

You will need to have it very near perfect. Your flow can affect the level. If your pump is near one OF then it could definitely lower the level on that side and increase the level on the other.

Gurgling comes from an uneven match of return flow to overflow. Usually signalling too high of return flow.

well the returns can take 1200gph, and they are getting about maybe 300? lol
and only one of the returns is hooked up right now, the side with the low water level. Maybe I will hook up the other side tonight and see if it changes!
    Thanks for the tip!
If that does not work I will have to re level the tank.

as close to perfectly level as possible. when we setup my 180, it was level initially but then it dropped about 1" in 6 foot after filling it. we were forced to shim the stand and it has finally settled in nicely.

+1 Plumb and level you don't want that tank leaning in any direction. Level will help the water flow correctly as well.

Yup, Mine is perfectly level as well. It was a MAJOR PITA to get it level, and we did have to use some shims, but it is level and has stayed level for about a year now. Good luck, leveling sucks. :)

its like. super almost level. but i guess the tiny bit it is off makes a big difference over 6ft.
using a 10in torpedo level probably does not help the situation either. haha

I'm not looking forward to leveling my 180 when I get it finished and in the spot in my family room.

I think I'll set it up, level it. Fill it nearly full w/ FW. level it, then drain it and perform the transfer from my 125g- which at that point will all be in bins and buckets!

    Hey my friend-

Get the FREE app. from Stanley for the IPhone!
It's great and gives you a reading with the bubble, and digitally to the nearest 1/10th of 1 degree!

It's really cool, seems to work well also
