Well I know for a FACT that he got this information on what to do from someone who now has 1,828 posts...and has a VERY successful 300Gallon reef...Me! And if you QT that fish it will almost certainly succumb to ich and die...if you leave it alone and let it do its thing naturally...it will develop a natural defense to the parasite...that will always be in the tank...and I have 6 un-QT'd tangs in my reef...that have all battled ich at some point in their life...

With that many posts, I am assuming the OP has been around, asked questions, participated in debates and is now educated on saltwater fish. So, you mean to tell me all the points system at collage is a joke and doesn’t mean anything? Hmmm, then why do you need so many points to get a degree? Posts/points do not mean anything, right? Through the advent of points and posts, one would assume they are acquiring a higher learning degree, get the coloration? That’s all it is, never said it was a definite. Some of the people I run into with degrees, would make you wonder if they know how to brush their teeth in the morning.

I NEVER said you could not have a nice tank with ick in it. What the OP is saying is feed the fish and they are fine. Thats a 99.999% blanket statement which is wrong. Of course it will fix itself to a point. The Ick will all fall off, but, problem is not really fixed because it jumps back on a week later. Just because his fish hasn’t died does not mean someone else’s fish's will not die. It is a gamble, aka roll of the dice. Like I said, I am glad his roll of the dice worked out for him, I am never one to wish bad things on "good" people.

Also, some fish cant be treated as they are too delicate. Trust me, I know angels, least the pygmy type, but, thats what a QT is for. Keep your main tank ick free, QT new comers and keep the DT ick free. Do whatever you can to rid the fish of ick. Even though the fish live, why put them through that? What kind of life do you think you would have if you lived in a house full of fleas biting on you? As humans, where we CAN be responsible, I would want to try to make my fish as comfortable as possible. Thats why I said I would let the angel chill out for a week, since the ick is in the tank now for sure, get healthy eating then nab him out of the tank for a qt treatment.

Anyways, I am not preaching, was just "saying", there are other options to having an ick-y tank, and, letting others know it just doesnt "fix" itself as much as a more correct term would be "slows it down".

TMHO and thats all it is.

Wow that is a lengthy post lol. Your way is reasonable, but most people aren't going that route. Honestly, the fish should be just fine. Most people will say ICH is in every tank anyways, just saying. Happy reefing.

If the fish builds immunity to the parasite then it doesnt live its life "with fleas biting them"....you have your honest opinion...and I will provide the proven method...thanks

Ill take my proven method 100% of the time over hunting a stressed fish down, moving rocks all around in your tank, putting them in a strange empty tank with chemicals and telling them...."trust me this is better for you"......I guarentee you will lose more fish to ich doing that, than just feeping them fed and meeting their nutritional needs. End of story

Lol I'm sorry but this is MY personal experience. I'm not saying that everyone's will be the same? Obviously if you go to petco and buy an Achilles tang that already has ick to put into your 20g tank feeding will not be enough. This is what I did with the help of Kevin.

And about 90% of those posts take place on my build thread. That place is like a chat room.
