The best advice is "snug." You can always just try experimenting, see if it does anything. Start tight and loosen a little as you go.

I highly suggest getting one if you can swing it. That is if I can keep it running more than 2 months.

You know really, it is a neat design. Lots of advantages to the split design, but it is complicated. I would love to use one even if it wasn't split. Just the flow charactoristics are awesome.

Ya, I just ried finger tight. It was pretty loose. After looking, the shaft has to be tight together to spin as one unit. The drag on the unit spinning in the bearing is what twists it off. I don't doubt your experience and I tried it, I'm just saying too loose and it won't spin. I tried it about to that.:cheesy:

The more they are talked about and praised.... makes me wanna get two mp20's. one on each side...... or just one mp40 o the one side... but could do alot more with two mp20's... but more $$$.

But I see sparky has his being serviced and your practically servicing yours. So....

But yea More than likely gonna ditch the hydor wavemaker 4 idea and go vortech.

the MP40 is way too much for my 90, but I'm not real overgrown with SPS either. I got the 40 because I want to move up in the future and use two 40s. Two 20s in a 90g woul dbe more than legitemate. Sync em up and do a ton more than I am right now.

Actually... I'll put it in better perspective. A 40 is not at all too much for a 90g. A 40 is too much for my LPS. If it wasn't for them looking like they are about to be blown over, I would turn my 40 up and take out my other K4. If I had grown out SPS colonies, the LPS would be happier.

Thats the situation Im in now.... I have so many nice LPS that theyd be pissed at me if I went crazy on my flow. I gotta have a fine balance with flow. Keeping both my lps and sps happy. Right now with the k4 and k1 its doing the job just fine. Upgrading to vortechs is just icing on the cake so to speak.

Certainly something that can wait till it's actually needed. The last couple of days my LPS have been so happy and extended with the low flow. HUGE. Perhaps they sabotaged the MP40. ;D
