I have had some ich outbreaks and have found that good params and garlic work just fine. Probably gonna get flayed for typing that out, but hey, it's true man. Anymore, I have become a minimalist, finding that less is more.

Right now, he is getting hit with threatments, freshwater dips, rearrangement of his environment....And when you took out the LR, you removed a good chunk of the the nitrafying bacteria. So cut feeding waaaaaayyy back. Stress level is going to be a little high for him.

If you use hyposalinity treatment, 1.015 is the standard. And it's not nearly enough. IMO, a carefully monitored 1.008-1.009 SG environment is what to try for. Be careful though. It's the brink. Read up on how to do this correctly. When I was researching I just googled it hit some very good articles.

And if you keep up on the QT, I would consider a larger tank. I had a 10g QT back in the day and found it too small (I eventually just converted it to a nano). If I were to ever do another, I wouldn't do anything less than a 20g long.

Good luck dude. Maroons are some pretty cool fish. I have a small one myself. I like it. It does not like me. It hosts a rock. I get near the rock. It bites.

yeah i was concentrating on that initially, but i need to make sure the fish is completely ich free when i move it to the big tank , can good water parameters and stuff do that or will the parasites just hide inside him? =o yeah i agree, he's very beautiful! ;D

is it okay to put the live rock i removed from the qt tank to my cycling big tank?? or am i gonna bring ich to that tank too?
