Thanks for taking time to answer my question .. but i have noticed with all the sump builds and pictures witch im thinking of building one (i would like to get a killer pod population) i have been useing an aqua clear 110 filter and a e shopps skimmer sence i started with saltwater and oddly enough thay both have performed flawlessly

but ill get to my question i never see any ativated carbon in any of these sumps i always thaught that was the biggest reason for running power filters i guess filtration is one aspect i just dont understand

im going to start reading up on sump design when i started in this hobby i just wanted a FOWLR set up but im quickly gravatating to reef in fact im going to build a 180-200 gallon tank i have to build i want to diy the hole setup

    thanks Matt

When you do it correctly with a sump set-up, the carbon will be run in a reactor, seperate from the sump.
