did some research an found a pic of a majano that does look like those. Today I saw another 'head' at the base, which was really fast for a coral; less than 2weeks. I'm tend to trust the old heads and am heading to the LFS to get some Joe's. I'll show the pic to the LFS where I got the rock and see if they can confirm. Thanks for all the help, I'm glad there are some good souls willing to help a green horn.

I'm also wondering if what I think are amphipods might be hermit or cleaner shrimp babies.

the 'pods' are on the vid I posted.

Went to the LFS and he doesn't believe they are anemones. On the fence. I suppose I can kill them relatively easily, so I'll give it a few days. Right now I have a byropsis problem looming. As a newbie I have all the classic nuisance problems on my hands. Bubble algae, byropsis, possible majanos, GHA, small patches of cyano. Feels like my first couple of FW tanks all over again. I hear madonna in the background....

    Params:

    Amon: 0
    Nits: 0
Trates: 5 ( for the first time in 2 months, thinking they were held up in the algae giving false readings)

Been raising my mag with kent which has been at 1650 for 3 days(salifert test) just a waiting game I suppose

    55g
CUC: 10 blue hermits, sally lightfoot, lawnmower, a few assorted snails (had a die off recently, starvation is best guess), sand sifting star, 2 large dusters, dozens of small dusters.

7 small fish total less than 1.5 inches a piece. lots of coral at least 15 pieces

100 lbs of rock total, 35 live rock

hob skimmer, 3 power heads, fluval 305 (fresh carbon, clean, but still bio active), 2 reefbrite ho 4' leds blues on 11 hours, whites on 4 hours.

btw the three cleaner shrimp I had all died off (yes I got them out) leaning toward starvation. the first got skinny, the second was killed mid molt by the third, the third also skinny.

also phos has gone from 0 to .25 a few times. Running phos remover in filter.

I've been told they might be polys, they are about dime size, I have polys about quarter size so they aren't big.

Ro water, DI on whole house. tested RO water and it's perfect. Today I'm starting on Tropic Marin Bio. Used IO before. Sick of paying extra for supplements.

update: went to store yesterday, LFS guy advised me to watch it. So being in a fish store I of course walked out with 4 new frags...got home, realized there are two very similar 'beings' on a zoo frag. The zoos aren't happy, kinda shying away from these guys. Go back, luckily there was another frag with this on there so we got an id. At least not 100% but it is 90% certain it is a pest anemone. LFS had no Joes so I only left with 3 frags this time and just ordered joes from marindepot. TADA!!
