Weird things on my new Mexican turbo snail's shell. Any help? One purple one orangish yellow. Look like shells.

purple is coraline algae but no idea of the orange. it seems to be the shape of half a filter clam shell.

The orange thing is a snail, and could belong to a couple of different families. However, considering that most of these Turbos come from western Mexico, I'm fairly certain it's Crepidula arenata. It won't hurt anything, although I've never really liked the way they look on other shells. I always removed them, but other people think they're cool and don't bother with removing them.

    Crepidula arenata

    Cheers,
