I'm thinking of making a large order from affordable aquatics for the 16 oz frozen flat packs. The hikari brand is way less then other brands and was wondering if there's a downside to it. I was going to get mysis, blood worms, krill, and brine shrimp so I have a variety for my fish. What's the difference between brine shrimp and Spirulina Brine Shrimp?

Hikari makes some very high quality food IMO.

Spirulina brine shrimp are gut loaded with spirulina.

Basically plain brine shrimp are nutritionally sort of like potato chips right? So the spirulina makes them nutritious while still having the benefit of getting picky/new fish to eat?

I can basically agree with this analogy. Yeah, pretty much.

Actually, brine shrimp has a little more nutritional value than what it gets credit for; there are a few species of fish that can thrive on brine alone. It got it's bad rep before we understood the dietary needs of the fish that were being collected and sold because of the many others that cannot.

That being said, as a type of algae, the spirulina adds the "greens" for omnivores that also feed on brine. :)
