Just registered today. Found this site while looking for information on equipment and ideas.

I'm currently in the process of setting up a 55 gal that will have fish and some corals. I am getting back into the hobby after a hiatus of about 5 years.

In the past I have run a 65 and 75 FOWLR and my last tank was a 46 bow with fish and simple corals.

Now I'm looking for a new light fixture since my old one is too small for the tank. It was a Coral Life Power Compact. More then likely I am going to move into a 48" T5 fixture which should give me more options on corals if I want. I don't want to get into the MH arena at this time.

    See you all around.

Welcome to 3reef! Glad to have ya!

With at least 6 quality bulbs in a quality fixture you'll be able to keep anything you want anywhere you want in a 55 with T5's. The bulb combos make color options almost impossible to decide on. They're great lights for shallower tanks, I think you'll be very happy.

Thanks for the advice. I am actually looking at a 4 bulb fixture due to price constraints and the fact that I don't "think" that I will do too much with corals.....but as you know....the best laid plans of mice and men often go astray. :)

The 4 bulb fixture will work fine in a 55. You'll just have to keep high light corals more towards the top. Welcome 2 3reef.
