    Just wanted to introduce myself.

I've had freshwater fish for about 10 years, I've had a 90 gallon Cichlid tank for the last several.

I've wanted to flip to saltwater for a long time and now have the means to do so so I picked up a 130 gal reef-ready oceanic.

I'm running 1'' flexible tubing into a 30 gal sump w/ refugium mud in the main chamber (I'll be putting bio-balls in as well). I presently have a Gen-X 40 external pump pumping the water to the returns but it's way too loud so I intend to pick up a QuietOne 4000 as my primary pump (I'll plumb in an emergency valve so I can kick on the Gen-X if I have an issue with the 4000 as I hear the Quiet Ones can have some reliability issues). I'm also running a Magnum 350 cannister filter with chemi-pure in it because I've always been very impressed with chemi-pure and I like the additional mechanical filtration.

I have a 72'' Coralife Aqualight Pro running 150W metal Halides w/ 4 Lunar LEDs and alternating actinic/white 34'' power compacts.

I presently have 80 lbs of live rock and about 3 inches of live sand as my substrate.

I still need a skimmer and probably more live rock, but I'm loving this thing so far. I can sit and stare at the lunar lights without even having fish in it.

I'm open to any advice as to how to speed the cycle up a bit. The person I bought the live rock from also gave me his water, which was all RO water, so it's only about 50% new water, but I'd imagine I still have a lot of cycling to do.

Welcome neighbor - I'm in St. Louis. #1 rule of setting up a marine tank, PATIENCE. However I've heard some folks throw an uncooked shrimp into their tank (from the grocery store) to help their cycle along. Get's the ammonia going faster. The search feature on this site works well for loads of information on a variety of topics. Good luck - and don't forget to post pictures, even now without any fish we want to see!
