I have had this tang for around 2-3 weeks. It was in the LFS's tank for 3 weeks before I brought it home... Now it is just not so active, swim in a very slow fashion...And I don't see it graze on LR recently. Yesterday it was still eating frozen food and whole dried cyclopeeze... I thought tang should be hyperactive so this really worries me... Didn't see any parasite on it yet but maybe the cleaner wrasse already cleaned him up... Any advice what may be happening to this tang?

My 55G tank has been set up for 6 months, and other livestocks are two clowns, 1 firefish, 1 cardinal, 1 cleaner wrasse, 1 scooter blenny... Everything else looks fine including the corals..

Thank you kind people at 3reef...

What is the algae content of the frozen food? What is the brand? Do you ever provide nori or spirulina? How often do you supplement your food with HUFAs and Vitamins?

I give it nori 3 times a week, plus the food is the herb version of Rod's food... Everytime for frozen food I will add some drops of vitachem... At least 3 days ago I still saw it eating nori...

Well, you're giving it a great diet so that doesn't seem to be the cause of it's listlessness. By any chance is it's poop stringy and doesn't alway fall off immediately?

    What are your water parameters?

Any time I hear Tang issues aside from water quality I think stray voltage. Are you grounded?

The nitrates could be hurting its gills causing it to swim slower. But Also When I have my Temp Jacked around 80degrees My tangs are more calm and not as crazy with their swimming but when I bring it down to about 76-78 They are very active. So not sure if the temp might play a part in this.

Have you done a water change recently to bring down the nitrates?
