I switched everything from my 29 over to my 40b. Had no problems at all. You just need to switch EVERYTHING: LS, LR, and water. I would just watch out for the sand; depending on age, and if its sifted through, it may be full of nitrates.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
How deep is the sand bed in the 29 gallon?

Right now the 29 has about a 2" sand bed. I would like to do about a 3" sand bed in the 40.

You shouldn't have too many nitrates, but I would do a waterchange after getting everything moved over.
