I have a medium sized toadstool that closed up when i moved him from my nano to the 55 he's in now, which for a while i new this was normal,as they shed when upset or moved(right?)well he stayed closed for 3 weeks, and started to grow algea ontop of the dead skin layer,so in a desperate attempt to save him,i did an iodine dip and lightly scubed the algea and most of the dead skin off,put him back in the tank and he amazingly opened about 85% of the way for over 2 days, and now acting like he wants to shed again?Cllosed up most of the way and i'm allready seeing the whiteish dead skin forming on his head. All water test show fine(allthough my cacium is a little high at 515)but i wouldnt think that would be it,he's also on top of the reef under 130watt pc lights(which he thrived under in the nano)and in moderate not heavy waterflow.Any ideas would be helpful.TIA

Sounds like the normal growth/shedding process. I would just give the top a little extra flow

i'm thinking the same, there is no dead or rotting tissue, when i scubed him,he was very firm no mushy or bad spots that i see, pretty much just acting like a normal shed but taking forEVER!!But i wanted some of your guys input. Thanks

sounds normal to me i wouldnt move it to much or they will keep on with the shedding process so leave it check on it if it seems to be having a hard time use a turkey baster tooo blow excess off of toadstool or areas that looks as if it need to come off(brownish color skin )i wouldnt keep moving it, unless u like the stump look

Thats what i've been doing, using a baster to blow the dandruff off here and there, and i'm just gonna let him pout it out and see what happens. Thanks Bio
