i know generally how they work im just having a hard time deciding where to drill the tank to set it up. and also what kind of rotating flow valve to get.i like the oceans motions but im already strung for cash.

the tank:225gallon not drilled( not sure tempered bottom yet or not). 2 drains.right now i have a mag 18 return.but i will be upgrading that.closed loop will be a reeflo hammer head pump.

my main questions are with the closed loop.where do i put the holes?and the pump would need to be in the middle of the tank correct?

alll this is assuming i can drill the bottom

CL does not need holes drilled in the bottom. Drill a large one in the middle of the back wall and put a screen on it to keep the critters out. Drill holes in other spots on the back for returns or have a manifold that returns of the side. You could also have the input go over the back of the tank if you don't/can't drill.

i know for sure i can drill the back and sides (glass has chips in it). the tank has 2 viewing sides.the front and the left side. so i can drill that side unless i drill it near the top and use a small bit op plumbing and aim it down?

That or lockline to get a little better spread on the flow.

This is a 72" tank correct? Is this going to be "In wall"?

I would do four to six returns all with lockline nozzles to direct flow.
With four you can space them fairly evenly across the back and do a single large inlet in the middle. For the 5th and 6th, I would put them on the sides for your crosscurrents.

yes this is a 72" tank..its not going inwall.its going in the corner of my den.

i would need to put the pump in the middle of tank so all the lines are equal disatance from the pump?
