Did you buy this set up as a whole kit, or buy what you wanted for the tank. I ask because it seems like you were exhausting the output of the ballast. I accidentally did the same thing when installing my garage lights and that's when I learned to observe the ballast output to the light electrical draw. If that's the case, you may just have to order an additional ballast to complete your lighting set up.

It is a whole kit, it comes with two maxwellen drivers which can run between 12-20 LEDS. Previously they were running 16 LEDs on each driver with no problem, I think that things went awry when I plugged them in and the potentiometer wasn't attached to the driver. Not sure how or why but it was at this point that I think I blew/exhausted some of the LEDS.

Hmmm, I see. You're sure it was those LED's you took out, and not the driver (thank you for the correction) that was bad? Could take a multi meter to it and see what the output is. They're pretty cheap at any builders store.

Thanks for the help! I don't have a multimeter right now definitely should pick one up though :), but I can't see how it could be the driver. I tried it on both strings of lights and it worked perfectly fine with the white string (same # of LEDs) but it wouldn't light the blue string. Once I replaced the 'problem' LEDs it worked fine again.

In any case, I have removed all the LED's and undid all my wiring...I am going to build a light for my 10G freshwater shrimp tank with 13 of the whites and attach the rest of the whites and blues to my T5 fixture.
