Thanks for all the above info. I'm going to read through these slowly to really understand what you are telling me. :)

with acrylic you can drill it easily and have no problems then. never going to overflow and never going to loose siphon.
I think you should try and find an acrylic one...

The only problem I see with acrylic is that it scratches easily, if that's not a concern go acrylic.

If you go down the glass tank route, don't be scared of drilling the tank. It's fairly simple, just have to make sure the glass isn't tempered.

I don't like acrylic because it scratches easily and always looks hazy to me. I don't know...

Couldn't I have someone just drill it for me? :)

    acrylic tank= $150
    glass tank= $20

so you can go through shattering a few glass ones until they add up to one acrylic... or you can get acrylic... or you can just build and overflow

I don't like acrylic for the same reasons...

You could bring a glass tank to pretty much any glass shop and have it drilled for a few $$, either that or you could buy a dimond bit off ebay for like $12. If you plan to grow algae, just make sure you either drill a big hole where you could add a good size bulkhead for the drain, just incase some algae get loose it can't clog up the hole. Either that or you drill 2 holes and run 2 drains from the fuge, just incase 1 gets clogged.

yes i agree with above you can get a 10g tank at walmart or petco for really cheap or a 20g at petco for 20 dollars with the sale going on. Then you can get someone to drill it add a couple bulkheads for cheap, or do the kit from glass holes that might be better to keep your algea from clogging and give you good surface skimming.
