Hi All - I need your help coming up with ideas!!

I was having a GHA outbreak in my 90 gallon. After adding an MP40 the GHA is gone! Wooohoo!! However, my clowns started hosting in a big clump of the GHA. Their clump is half gone and is definitely on its way out . What is something I could buy that I could put in place of the GHA, that the clowns would still host? Something similar in texture, appearance, etc....

Any thoughts are welcome!! Let's brainstorm. :) +K for ideas!

    Thanks!!

You could use GSP, waving hand, hairy mushrooms, even xenia. You could attach it to a seperate rock to have at least some control over growth. I've also read that most of the sacrophytons make suitable hosts. Just some ideas.

I thought about GSP and xenia, but I'm afraid of them totally taking over my tank. Though they are really pretty. I'll look up waving hand, I'm not sure what that is.

    Thanks!

I would probably avoid xenia or GSP, those corals are weeds that are more obnoxious than what they are worth. Anthelia / waving hand is just as annoying. You may want to look into a frogspawn - I have seen clowns host them before. Clowns don't need to host anything really, by the way. They'll find a rock or other coral to pester soon enough.

I know, but they look so cute. And at night they snuggle. :)

I actually just bought a frogspawn, so maybe I could try that. I'm worried about the frogspawn stinging them?

They're anemone fish. The mucus coating protects them but I've read alot of posts about the corals getting irritated and not extending when clowns use them as a host. Most of the sacrophyton leathers have longer tentacle like polyps and everything I've read about them seems to say they tolerate being a host better than other corals.

My pair decided the larger of my featherdusters looked comfy. The male even tries to feed it then looks puzzled when it zips back in it's tube.:)

They have some waving hand on Diver's Den. I wonder if I should pick it up. It's pretty!

Anthellia is a great coral and my clowns hosted it

but as stated it can take over, and not just over surrounding rock work
bits of this coral can get moved around by the activity of crabs and snails , and can drift off and start a new colony elsewhere IME ( I have mini colonies in 3 or 4 areas of my tank due to this)

Thanks Steve! I think I'll buy some. I don't mind if they spread. I need something spreading in my tank! haha
