ive had a 46gal bowfront fowlr for about 6 months with:

    marineland penguin 200 filter
    36-48" marineland double bright light
    2 clownfish
    1 humma trigger
    1 puffer
    about 50lb of live rock

(soon adding a protein skimmer and another powerhead)

my question is, im interested in adding a Rock Flower Anemone in a month or so since they are non photosynthetic and seem to be the hardiest of anemones, can i have this anemone with that setup? Im going to be double checking my ammonia and nitrate levels over the next few weeks to make sure everything is under control. any advice will be appriciated.

    Welcome to 3reef.

Do you have a link or an image for the rock anemone? I know some are photosynthetic.

i actually think most the rock anemones and anemones just in general offered in this hobby are photosynthetic, or else i have yet to see one.

Also, I wouldn't add a nem with aggressive predators like triggers and puffers. It just might become dinner.

i really dont have a preference on the anemone. i just thought it would be cool to add one to my tank...after reading a few other experiences online, it seems the fish might actually take a nip out of it so ill probobly wait until i have less aggresive fish.

but i just really wanted to know what i would need in order to add a non photsynthetic anemone to my tank (saying i have no aggresive fish). ive never had reef experience before

    Is the lighting system LED?

If you follow the norm with regard to this hobby you will either upgrade to a much larger tank to keep fish like puffers and triggers or you will upgrade your lighting and filtration and convert what you have into a mixed reef with smaller reef type fishes.

I can not address the LED systems but an FYI BTA (bubble tip anemones) are probably the hardiest while being a very attractive anemone for beginning hobbyist.

Maxi mini anemones are also nice because they stay some what smaller and come in a rainbow of colors.

A tube anemone might be an option as well once you get rid of the puffer and trigger.
