WOW, this site is great and full of smart reef people.

I want to play a major role here with all my ideas.

Im planning on making several large fishtanks made of plywood using salts, sand, and homemade rocks.

Home Depot or Lowes do it yourself stores are my first option.

    Great....now can do this properly...

If I understand you right, you want to build your entire system from scratch...

Interesting way to begin, but if you have time, skills and required knowledge it can be done...

Actually about the only thing you can get at HomeDepot/Lowes is wood.

Everything else you need are going to be found on web or local fish store (LFS)

I admire your enthusiasm and I don't want to throw water on your plans...but you might just be better off starting with a new or used aquarium.

Should be able to find nice one at good price in local want ads or craigslist.

Here are some sites to study up on (and reading through past 3Reef posts)

Keep us posted on plans and progress...check out our DIY forum.

    Glad to see you here.

Here is one link I found in DIY forum on a building your own tank, by just cruzing thru 1st couple of pages:

    DIY Tank

In it, you will find some links to plans on other sites.

Am sure you will find more threads on same going thru past posts in that forum.

I would be clueless and totally incompetent to take on such a task. :p

But others here probably have the knowledge needed.

Post those questions when you have studied up a bit.

You will get answers on 3Reef.

    Good Luck...
    :)
