If you are using the API ammonia kit, it can be very tough to tell between 0 & .25. Are you 100% sure it is actually .25? Maybe bring a sample to your LFS to confirm.

I tested again this morning it looks a little yellower than green so it's probably 0. What should I do if it does go up to .25? So I can be prepared.

Probably diatoms. Every tank goes through this stage. Its called the "uglies." Can point that your cycle is near complete.

Brown diatom algae is usually the first problem algae that a new reef aquarist encounters. A bloom of brown algae often occurs soon after one introduces new live rock to a reeftank. This bloom occurs because of the curing of the live rock introduces of silicates and nutrients. A brown film soon coats everything inside the tank. Control of brown diatom algae is relatively easy. The first thing to do is to purchase Trochus snails that eagerly consume the brown diatom film. I personally prefer Trochus snails because they seem more robust than the Astraea strain.

I put two BTAs, one green and one pink in my 55g tank after about 3 months and all is well with no problems.
