Hi everyone. I'm just joining the site because I'm hoping to find the right site for me. I was on a different site, but found that I did not really fit in there. I'm a moderate reef keeper currently with more of a project than a set up. I started out with a 29g and progressed from all hob stuff and barely anything in it to having a 10g sump and having to rip things out to stop the fighting. During that time I got given a 40g and a 50g. I drilled them and built a stand....... it's been a bumpy road from there on out. I had barely done anything DIY before this and when I'm done most of it will be diy, so needless to say I've learned a lot and am continuing to lean more.
Here is a pic of the project before it had anything put in it, it's doing it's thing right now, but I'm a little embarrassed of how bad my algae is (because I did not budget quite right and now am waiting on some $ to finish my sump/fuge) so I'll get you guys some more current pics when I'm not so embarrassed of how it looks

    Hi and Welcome to 3reef.

Cool set up you got going there. Anyone that has been in this hobby for any length of time, probably has a work in progress just like you. You should start a build thead.

Nice area of the country to live in.

Hello and welcome. I had never done any DIY projects either until I started frequenting this forum and now I have made two sumps/refugium. Very helpful people on here for sure.

Hey Damon, welcome! I think you will fit in just fine here. We are a good bunch. However....you aren't getting off so easy on the current pics. WE WANT PICS!! You think you are the only one who is going through a "rough" time with the aquarium? We have all pretty much been there. So, come on, put up the pics and post some parameters and what lights you use and.....well, join the group!

Thank you all for the nice welcomings. I'll get some pics up when I get back, we'll see if I feel brave enough for current pics, but I won't leave you guys totally without some new eye-candy. I'm going for a 3 day surf trip/visit a friend in Mendoceno :victory: leaving in the morning, so everything will have to go on hold until then.

ya I eat at the Vallarta on soquel quite a bit, it's a good restaurant (I've worked in a few and am a little picky) and it's not far from my house. SC is very nice for a city. I love the waves here and there are some nice trees too.
