Yes, but it's when it gets stuck on and someone pulls it out of the tank without unplugging it (you know, everything in the tank is dead or dying because it got stuck on and your tank is 110 degrees) because they are dealing with an in progress catastrophe........

Actually I couldn't find any bad reviews on the stealth pro. I did see a few about the stealth visi-therm claiming it killed there fish , because it was apparently maintiaining 100 degrees. F. They failed to mention what it was actually set at.

    Regardless, that's just stupidity.

Therefore, the so called explosion is not the manufacturer's fault. It's the operator's. The only problem was that the temp was too high. The other problem is the operator taking the wrong actions & not thinking.

    "Operator Error" ???

Yes it may not be a smart move, but until you are in a panic situation because you are losing $3000 worth of livestock, don't think you aren't capable of making a mistake too. Not saying you would, but I can see how it could happen. Fortunately, I've never had a heater fail.

I guess this is what I mean.

Even in this person's case. They did the right thing & just unplugged it. The fish/corals were closed-up/hiding.

Livestock is not lost until the reefer screws up and does the wrong thing(I don't mean you, doc.).

The cause of death is not the product, but it's owner.

I agree 100%. I was just explaining how it can happen. Not everyone stays calm when the s*it hits the fan and that's how the heater goes boom!
