Ok, this may seem silly but the temp has dropped in my apartment now that the cooler season is coming. It 69-70 in here.

Since the temp dropped my heater barely shuts off. Its not over heating but its staying on for hours between 79.7-80.8.
    Its a eheim jagger

This never happened during the summer with or without the ac on. It would turn on go to 80.8 and thrn turn back on when it dropped to 79.7

How long does your heater stay on for?

This graphic is when things which are plugged in are on. the top one (redish) is my heater which you can see is on almost all the time. It is working just fine keeping my tank temp in the zone and the line below it is my emergency heater. So my heater is on A LOT.

I guess it just seemed weird to me because it used to go on for an hr then shut off and then go on for an hr etc etc.

The last 2 days its been on a lot more.

So far from 9:45-11:59 the light has been on.

I haven't had the emergency heater come on once since i added it to my reefangel to come on if the temp gets more than .1° lower than my main heater can handle but i imagine it will get some use very soon.

You could add a second heater (or get a larger one) so it takes less time to warm your tank. I'm using a 200w for a 20g system, and it's rarely on regardless of room temp.

Living in South Central Pennsylvania puts me right in a temperate zone that notices a big swing in temp between seasons. Last week my house average temp was about 72-78 Degrees, This week a cold front blew in with the Hurricane we are to get and the Outside temp dropped from 80 something down to 50 in a few days time. These in between seasons are when heaters get most confused. Probably my single FAVORITE thing about having a controller is the temperature automation. As this is what cause of me loosing my first tank 8 years ago. So I expect my heater will start staying on a large portion of the time now.

I'm home all day long so I can keep an eye on things and because of that I noticed the change in how long the heater was staying on. I have an extra heater at home for emergencies:)

I was concerned that possibly there was an issue but it turns off at 80.8. It now only takes 20mins to drop to 79.9

Droopster, I'm in Ontario Ca, our weather just took the same drop, ambient rm temp was between 74-77, now 68-69. It makes sense my heater is on more often.

Vareef- you must be in a warmer state and so lucky for it:)
