Yes! I got one for $2.00 tonight. He is in a shell about 1.5 inch long by 1 inch wide. I need to find some larger shells soon. Is he primarily reef safe?

Should be as reef safe as any other hermit crab. You may find him mugging snails for their shells, but I doubt he will mess with corals.

    $2 is a good deal.

I knew he was primarily reef safe. He is larger than my other hermits though.

Larger hermits are evil. They are supposed to clean only uneaten food but they will go for food given to corals before corals even have a chance. They will also rob food from corals mouth (mostly LPS) and corals could die from damage.

There's not enough detritus in the average well-taken care of reef tank for the larger hermits like halloween or electric blue crabs. As a result, they should be target fed some seaweed, quality sinking pellets, etc so they leave your corals food alone.

i have had a 2 inch one for about 6 months and he is great doesnt hurt anything besides knocking some stuff over, and they are too slow to steal food from others, but it is a good idea to target feed once in awhile to be sure they get enough food
