Xenia is a finicky coral anyways I have seen them go for yrs then all of a sudden just melt down water parameters are very critical with them as for the Green stars Just take a tooth brush and clean them off algae or something is settling on them. Many feel its normal for them to do this But its not mine never close .

hmmm, I would say check your params, and what type of flow in GPH are you looking at? did you change anything, add any type of chemicals recently or anything new?

Thanks Dawn :), I was deffinately talking from a past experiance there, my first coral was a GSP, i remember they had been doing quite well before the addition of too much alk, thus skyrocketing a few things and the ultimate death of them, but i still take it as a good lesson learned to take it slow.

Hi sorry, but i'm new and when people say param, what all do they include in there. i have a 29 biocube, a 14 gallon powerhead, and i bought a tunez protein skimmer that came with a surface skimmer so that itself its another powerhead. i just bought a hammerhead coral today and i soaked it in tap water (cuz the girl at the fish store told me to to kill n e harmful organism) but once i put it in my main tank it started to melt... and bugering everywhere....

if you put it in regular tapwater, dont expect it to live. the metals in there are harmfull/deadly to all species pretty much, do you know what RO water is? you can find it at almost any grociery store, try using that, its pretty much pure H2O

parameters, alk. SG. Calcium. all that stuff

also when RO water dipping, you need to make sure that the freshwater is as close to the tank water temperature as possible, some even throw a pinch of salt and mix up a very low gravity solution.
