So, my star polyps are getting a "bald area". there use to be polyps in those places but they are just not popping up and after a while even the bumps that are there when a polyp is closed eventually goes away. Are they just moving to a spot on the frag that gets more light? Are they dying? Everything else about the corals is in great shape, growing and lots of new polyps in other places. can anyone explain why this "bald area" is showing up? It is also getting bigger. The picture was taken a few days ago and the bald area is larger now than in the pic.

Yea, shrinking off the rock is not a good sign. Sorry. Would you post water parameters? Possible they went haywire?

My oarameters are ammonia 0, nitrite 0, nitrate 0, pH 8.2.... that is all I have for test kits, but at the moment I am having an algae problem, could that be the cause?
