Hi, I have a problem. I have a 125 reef tank with a huge green star polyp colony on the top center of it. It has been gray instead of purple, and none of the polyps have been out. This has been going on for about a month now, and nothing I do seems to cure it. Any suggestions?

    Hi

Is everything else in the tank ok?

Have you checked all the parameters?

Has anything been changed or it just started going downhill?

    Can you provide a pic?

All the parameters are good, the only problem is a green hair algae outbreak. I have been peeling and scrubbing any algae I find on the coral, so I know that isn't the problem. I have three bright LED lights on the tank, and the colony is placed right under the center one, so light isn't a problem. The flow is pretty good at the top of the tank where the colony is situated.

This tells me your parameters aren't all good. Please post your numbers. A pic would help too.

Green hair algae is most likely a sign of higher nitrates/phos.
