Okay well today at my lfs, i got a small clown fish. Maybe 1 inch. I currently own a 3 inch clown fish.
But i notice the 3inch is more like dark orangeish color, but the 1 inch one is light orange color? Is this okay?
I told the lfs guy my clownfish is much darker orange color. But the lfs said clowns can sometimes have differnt shades of color and told me these were
ocellaris/percula clown fish? Will I be okay?

And also what are the chances they will be a pair?

I have a ocellaris clown fish. I think...i bought the 3 inch on craiglist so I only know his a clown fish. But his in max size i believe

I think as they get older they get to be a darker orange. Mine was the same as you light orange when it was an inch long.

Percula Clowns usually are better in pairs. Just hope for the best. That's with any fish you put in the tank.

Depends on how much she has to drink! JK JK JK It really depends on the tank situation, water quality, and the individual fish.

Ocellaris and Percula clownfish are two different types of clownfish, and the current clownfish might fight with the new clown because of territoriality. I think if they don't pair up at the beginning they might not pair up at all. Also it's better to add them at the same time. I'm not trying to bring your hopes down, hopefully they do pair up and it is more common in occellaris and perculas than other clownfish.

mating usually has to do with the living conditions of the fish. If the fish a "happy" then they will mate, that is of course if they are already paired up.

When you say mating do you mean breeding? That's a whole different story. Breeding is almost impossible in a community tank. Fry is lunch!;D

clownfish when they are young are actually all the same gender when they are young. they will later move into the gender that would suit them best for their surroundings. the best chance that you would have to get a pair of clowns would be to introduce them at the same time, giving them the same surroundings at the same time. clowns are very social fish so they will play and dart around the tank together, but you will be able to tell when they are a pair. they will never be more than a few inches away from eachother and once will grow bigger. i have not heard of clowns being introduced at different times and pairing off but it could be possible if they are around the same age. they could also fight eachother. they are a form of damsel after all. good luck.
