I have a web filter on our network at work. I block job search sites, social networking of any sort, sports sites, hacking sites, porno, etc. Folks have better uses for their time while on my network. Such as working. The same filter also blocks phishing sites, spyware, ads, etc. I recently blocked all reef related sites, so I don't get distracted while on the job as well. I have a trend report that shows the highest visited sites, as long as it's halfway productive I don't care, if it's a complete waste of time, such as some stupid blogging site, it gets blocked. Browsing by proxy to avoid / bypass the filter is also blocked.

As having a job where my duty is to police our network traffic at work, if it isn't work related it is blocked, simple as that and i dont see an issue with that. We did setup a breakroom pc on a dmz so people can surf on their break, of course with proper firewall rules still running

My company's policy is as long as it isn't taking up too much bandwidth and isn't interfering with work, it's fine to check any sites that are safe for work. FedEx isn't that much of an ogre :D
