Good Morning

: Good morning my name is Tom and I am very new to the saltwater thing. Although I have had many freshwater tanks over the years. I have been in the Air Force for about 20 years and moved about 9 times so you can Imagine how many times I have had to set up teardown sell and buy equipment..never had the courage to try the saltwater thing until now truly by fluke..I am retiring here in Mississippi so I thought it was time to get a new tank and started looking through craigslist and found what I thought was a pretty good deal on a 30 gallon tank and stand. Little did I know how good of a deal . Thats how I met Chuck (BAMA) the guru of saltwater tanks..my intention was to buy the tank and set it up as a FWT but by the time I left Chuck he had convinced to run the SW set-up not only that he offered to come over and help me set it up which was a lie ..he did not help ..he did the whole thing I just sat there watched and listened..by the time he left I was hoping he would go partners with me in a SWFS . Let me just say this to BAMA YOU ARE THE MAN!! Thanks for helping me to get started !! Since the setup day I have added about 15 lbs of LR and about then a pair of Green Chromis which are doing great. Man these SW tanks are addictive sometimes I just find my self sitting there staring hoping for some movement from the LR or in the refugium..maybe in the future I will look for some better lights and follow in Chucks footsteps and try the coral thing ..Thanks again Chuck pleasure meeting you...Tom

 

Welcome to 3reef Tom! Sounds like you have some good 'help' there. Be careful though, that's how we reefers roll. We sell you a system, offer to help then take over. Before you realize what's happening we've moved in. LOL ;D

Hello and Welcome, I just started a couple months ago myself. I know what you mean by staring at the tank hoping to see something. The people here are so helpful and nice. It is a real nice community.

 

Good to hear Bama convinced you and now that your hooked. Your done lol this gets super addicting I have tried the SWA (Salt Water Anonymous) like 10 times but just can't do it. Welcome the the community here but i have to be the bringing of bad news. WE LOVE PICS!!!! lol weres those tank pics. If you ever have questions just ask everyone is a great help here. Welcome again.

Hey Tom, Thanks for all the kind words. I'm glad you joined and said hello here, these guys are going to help out a lot. It is true about it being ridiculously addicting and admit that I have a problem Haha! When you get a chance, post up some pics on here of the tank, I would like to see it and I am sure a lot of the other members would as well. You will shortly see they are crazy about pics of tanks ;D
