    hmmm sounds really intersting.. what happens when you dose for about a couple of months and lets say you are out of town for a week, and have to stop dosing... what will happen?!?!

    im pretty sure its a long term thing so you would need someone to dose it for you

    but any side effects if you stop dosing all of a sudden?

    I have been dosing vodka on my FOWLR, and my nitrates went from 80 under 20 so far. I currently dose 10 ml for ~400 gallons of water. Water is very clear and glass stays clean a long time. So far, so good.

    Mmmmm....because it's not so good for the fish to have nitrates at 80.

    I too have read about long term dosing affecting the sand bed negatively. This article makes reference to it:

    Under "Deep sand beds"

    I have a FOLWR tank, and I plan on starting vodka dosing too - just to get rid of all the ridiculous cyano I have.

    I have lots of research to do first though, as my tank is only a 25g.
