So I'm going to be gone for three days in Feb: 16th, 17th and 18th for an Elton John concert in Eugene, OR. I Have some one coming to take care of the dogs and cats but I don't want them to have to touch my tank because they haven't dealt with SW before and I'm PICKY who touches it. (They have taken care of my furkids before LOL They are actually like family) SO should I get an auto flake feeder? I can spray flakes with garlic and selcon then let them dry so they will touch them. They love flakes when has garlic on them.

    What do you guys think??

I'm also going to be gone in May two different times and hubby will be going with me too and so are the dogs.

Would this be a wise investment???

Any other ideas would be great too :)

Assuming your signature is up-to-date, you really don't have anything in the tank that can't go without food for 3 days. You could do an auto-feeder if you wish, but do be careful when setting it up. There's lots of stories about people way overfeeding with an auto-feeder and causing all kinds of issues.

Beyond the food aspect, the only other 2 things to be mindful of while away for a few days are topping off and water parameters (ie-dosing, but unless you have a heavy to very heavy coral load in the tank, this isn't a concern either). Having some way to top-off the evaporation is definitely something to consider.

Going to follow along this was on my mind before I just bought a tank again. I vacation two to three times a year and my dogs go to a friends but your tank doesn't travel well.

Maybe I can have premeasured frozen in the freezer and all they have to do is drop one disk in a day. I think I like that idea.

    Input?

I would just show someone how, when ,& where to top off with fresh water. I would not worry about feeding for 3 days. Make it as simple for them as possible. Good luck & enjoy the show!
EDIT: sorry I just read that you got a new ATO lol
