So after stepping on and breaking half my glass top, which I was advised not to use from you guys anyway but it came with the tank, I figured what better time to switch to a mesh top then now!

What exactly is it that you guys use? I am looking to go to Lowes later for some pieces of PVC and am not sure what to get for a top

A lot of people use the mesh that brs sells.

I used bird netting from lowes and it works great. Just get that and the screen kit and you should be good to go. Think I spent 20 bucks max.

so it is literally just a screen mesh? I was thinking something more like a plastic or arcylic grid that would have some strength to it

Now how do you make it for a bowfront tank? The kit looks like it comes with 4 corners, wont exactly work for the bow lol

I used eggcrate that I bought from homedepot. It works just as good as netting and what I like the most is that it's plastic, no metal framing.

I will have to check that out, the part I cracked was the part that flipped open I am hoping to keep the other glass piece for under the light to protect the light and just create a lid that I can take on and off

Eggcrate is O.K. but it will block ALOT more light then screen mesh.;)
