I had posted a thread a while back about keeping a mandarin in my 29G biocube and have posted in several others similar threads.

    yes, it can be done.

yes, my mandarin was a champ and ate frozen brine easily

That being said if you are not at the ready daily to feed it my opinion is that in a tank this size the pod population just doesn't sustain a mandarin well at all even if your pumping purchased pods in weekly as I did for a while.

he's happily living in a 200gallon system at the pet store with as many pods as he can handle so I'm feeling good about my decision.

great post, congrats on finding a much larger home for your fish
your 100% right in that fish with specialist feeding needs do require a lot more
care and attention than general feeding species

Thank you both. I had made up my mind that I was going to be the exception to this rule.

With my work schedule recently I could see that he had lost some weight even with my efforts to artificially sustain him with the frozen brine.

Beside the fact that the decrease bio-load and now I don't have to put so much frozen brine into my tank as often will make my tank healthier for all of the other fish that are calling it home.

This is my third go back.
First was an anemone, 2nd was star polyps and now the mandarin.

Makes my tank less and more at the same time (if that makes sense).

I'm confident that he will, went to a great little store.

    ;D

yea, what a person can do and what they should do are often very different things.

Now, I'm not saying that I've completely flipped sides but it wasn't the right decision for me and I'll never try it again until I have a bulletproof setup that I have zero doubt in.
