    Hey 3reefers,

I saw a post the other day that said something like there are probably only a few true experts on this network. I beg to differ. I think that everyone who posts on this site possesses far more expertise than just about everyone else in the world. Think about it this way: There are 6.5 billion souls on this planet and only a few thousand are salwater aquarists. People who aren't marine aquarists are constantly in awe of those that are. You all know so much more than so many people out there. Don't sell yourselves short--you are all experts on some level, even the newbs.

I would like to give everyone here a lot of credit for the cumulative knowledge we cultivate. True, there are masters and apprentices but regardless of which category you fall under you know more about marine aquaria than 99.99% of the rest of the world.

Congratulations on having accomplished something truly spectacular. We are all kindred spirits. I would Karma everyone right now if I could. Thanks for being there all the time!

I agree, everyone in here possesses the actual hands on learning method. Yes some have more knowledge then others and some are more book smart, but in the end through trial and error new discoveries are made and additional solutions to problems are had. From new to old everyone has the ability to contribute something valuable.

Very well said. I must say that there also arent many hobbies such as ours that we all enjoy so much but are so willing to help and learn from one another. I think the people here are great and have helped me through some of the worst struggles I had with the my tank. I know its tough when you first get into salt water tanks to have proper understanding of how things work and proper upkeep but I must say ive been very impressed with how if its at the lfs or here on 3reef that fellow salt hobbiests are more then happy to help one another. My wife has started to get into this more even and stopped asking what 100 dollar fish WHAT?????? and got to cool lets get that one! K+

+1 ;D Of course my wife loves the tank like I do now.

I didn't see the post being discussed here but I would also disagree. There are quite a few very educated people on this board. One of the best I've been to. Really cool part is most of us have actual jobs outside of this. It's not like we get to dedicate 10 hours a day to this hobby.

Very nicely said nanoreefer555! K+. I have always found very knowledgeable people here, and almost everyone has something to offer. I see it the same way. Most of the newbies are here because they have a problem. Once that problem is solved they will have a solution for it to tell the next person that comes in with that problem. I had aiptasia and didn't know a thing about it... now that I took care of it I find myself offering answers on aiptasia threads.

My girlfriend has horses so she has no room to talk. At least I haven't bought a $6,500 fish yet. lol.

I usually look at the tank as soon as I walk in too. I try to do it discretely though.

It's amazing how much information is out there and how an international community is there to answer questions, provide advice and exchange ideas. I made my first attempt at a reef tank around 1989. There was so little information out there and there was no way to purchase anything online. RO filters were extremely expensive so I didn't have one. I eventually grew tired of scrubbing hair algae off my rocks and gave up when I moved. Reefkeeping is so much easier and cheaper now thanks to the internet.
