GFCI outlets come in different flavors. Regular GFCI found in kitchens & baths are not designed to be exposed to moisture all the time, especially saltwater! They do make GFCI outlets that are designed to be used in wet areas (example outside your home). They are about $20.00 more then the regular GFCI & I have seen them at Home Depot.

My solution, I used a GFCI Breaker that goes in my electrical panel. They are about $40.00 depending of panel mfg. One that protects the whole circuit & two a lot cheaper when an outlet goes bad.

Sounds like I need to install a GFCI Breaker on my panel instead of worrying about the actual outlet. Hopefully it's not too complicated, I'm no electrician but I can wire an outlet so shouldn't be too bad.

I was considering buying one of those construction power strips with breakers on them, has anyone tried that?
