The 46 bow is an excellent set up. I have actually been kicking around the idea.........Naw....three is enough for now.

Ok, I will consider changing that. It looks like alot of units are this way though and as long as its pumping out 0ppm I am not too concerned. Also, I was at my LFS today and was told from multiple people that work there and customers that the Berlin skimmer is not really all what its talked up to be and that the CPR bak pak is a better HOB skimmer for the same amount of money. He said the bermuda is the best HOB but the CPR is a good second for half the money. So....?

One thing to keep in mind, if you notice all the "high-end" units, they all have the DI stage/s vertically. That says something, I dont mean to demean your current unit, but thats the way it is. As for which HOB skimmer is better, I am not expert on HOB(never had one) but I have heard good reviews on the Aquac Remora, CPR Bal Pak, I believe Tunze and Deltec have a HOB skimmer.

Ok, I see what you're saying. Atleast i'm not trying to run Brita water or run to wal-mart everyday for a gallon of water like some of these dimwits. LOL. I am going to look and see if I can pop the DI units off and stand them up next to the unit. If not I will have to get longer hoses no big deal. Thanks, all the advice I can get is appreciated.

oh, and zjpeter.....thanks, his name is Tucker and he's a 2 year old Silky Cocker which is a Cocker Spaniel and Maltese mix. He's about 35 lbs now and the most incredible dog in the world. I have only seen another one like him and it was exactly the same way. Oh, and is the ZJ in your name for Jeeps Grand Cherokees?

Well Congratulations!!! It is nice to see someone that actually purchased a RO/DI BEFORE starting the tank!!!! For the money that we spend in this hobby, it is strange to hear people say I can't afford one, yet they have all the other things IE skimmer, Ca reactors etc. I think it is just as important as the tank itself. Luna is correct. The reason you want your DI verticle, is because after awhile, the water will cut a "River" if you will. Over the top and not be forced through the resin. Just get some x-tra hose from Home Depot and mount them upright....Good Luck and cant wait to see the results...Keep posting Pics!!

Oh ok! Now it totally makes sense why the DI should be vertical. Yeah, I wasn't going to chance the water being bad considering its the biggest part of the tank! Like you said - I have over a grand wrapped up in tank, stand, refugium, fluval, skimmer, powerheads, etc etc so why not spend the $132 it cost me for the RODI
