Sad indeed but would be even sadder to see you leave. I'm sure your friends here and 3reef can try to help you get back started. Stepho is right, you love this hobby too much to give it up.

    sucks dude. Sorry to hear.

In what way did the ATO break?

Did it overflow and ruin the floors in your apartment? Where did all the water go? Or was the sump big enough to catch it?

But either way, I think the fear of the ATO is misplaced. Just use a smaller reservoir next time... I only keep 3 gallons of fresh in my reservoir. Worst case scenario is 3 gallons of fresh dumped in. Not good, but not catastrophic either. One water change can resolve that.

How big is\was your reservoir for it to flow all night? I know my 3 gallon reservoir can empty in about 30 minutes... was it hooked directly to your RO\DI machine? Wait, you use tap and you have to treat tap... so you must have a reservoir. Got any pics of the catastrophe?

    sorry again dude.

Real sorry. So many pit falls. So many hard lessons to learn. At some point I am going to get a RO/DI, but I will not attach that to the tank. My ATO uses a 7 gallon jug. As was said, worst is 7 gallons and it will fit in my sump. No catastrophic. Not throwing salt, just for others who read this.

Sorry to to hear. Break the tank down, take a rest. You will be back and kicking your self for selling your stuff.

    We have all had problems.

If it is truly a hobby in your life, you won't throw in the towel.

Lick your wounds....pick up your pieces....... and fix the problem that cause this.
