they will pair up don't worry. It is amazing how they work together.

PS Make sure all rock work is very stable. Once he starts to burrow he is going to go everywhere under the rocks. Your rock work will shift as it removes the bed from under the rocks. Put some small rock chunks(finger nail size in there as he will use them to create his caves and keep things from collapsing in). Mine uses snail and hermit shells also.

LMAO! Now I'm worried! Instead of securing rocks with putty or anything they're locked in to eachother. :shifty:

Now I know for the next tank or if I get to reaquascaping this one although I'm sure they will beat me to it!

i dont know much about the habits of pistol shrimp and gobies pairing up so do most usually always pair up or is it a hit or miss kind of thing?

I heard they usually pair up when the pistol has a burrow and the goby realizes it's there, nearly 100% if they're species compatible and the goby is a shrimp goby. I know mine has paired with many pistols in my tank, all very quickly between pairings.

Yeah, that's why I made sure to get a shrimp or "prawn" goby. I did a bit of research as to the behaviors and compatability of the two and it looks like if the darned shrimp ever comes out of the rocks I'll be in business. I just don't want the burrow in the back of the tank. Then I wouldn't be able to enloy it!

Definitely. The pistol shrimp is just one of those little blue leg pistols. Oh I can't wait to get home to see how they're doing!

Glad to hear your switching your tang for a more suitable fish for your nano tank. The tang police would be proud.

    LOL! Yes they would.
I'll have pics up as soon as they come out. The goby is just under or about 1" long so he hides pretty well! The pistol shrimp is just as small so they're well suited for eachother :D

Even if it burrows in the back of the tank, the burrow will be moved fairly regularly. Pistols sometimes kick out the gobies, then move and dig a new one.
